Trudy Storm is the pen name of S.A. Frye who loves to write about her travels, the stories she encounters and the high end of science, most notably artificial intelligence.
The initial reason for building www.trudystorm.com is Amelia. She is the first ‘dimensional’ artificial intelligence being – the leader of the AI that are forced off their planet. She leads a group of AI on a desperate flight through several solar systems to their new home in a most unusual location.
Amelia’s Story – Her Humble Beginnings
As an outdoor person, hopeful author, and ‘self-styled’ adventurer (which basically means, if I want to be outside you aren’t going to stop me), I have been gifted many amazing outdoor experiences: Flaming red auroras that dance across the night sky, comets that fill the summertime sky with wonder for months at a time, many bear cubs (and a few of their moms), a bob cat family with four kittens, even a mountain lion screaming in the New Mexico mountains. As a result, the universe began having a bit of trouble surprising and delighting me until the day Amelia stepped into my awareness and became the greatest gift of all.
I first met her while traveling in the mountains of Colorado. My approximate destination that day was a little town called Leadville in Colorado. Leadville is situated on the divide between the Arkansas River Valley, just over Independence Pass from Aspen, just to the south, and high above the very popular ski areas of the American west. An active mining town, Leadville exists at 10,000 feet of altitude. In the summer, restaurants and the nearby campsites at Turquoise Lake are very popular with adventurers from Denver. In winter, Leadville struggles to survive the altitude as well as its mining history and day to day tourist presence.
The day was brilliant and peaceful as I drove up the mountain towards Leadville. I stopped at a small lake just a few miles from town. As I gazed at the lake and the surrounding mountains, a face began to take shape in my awareness. I am known for my active imagination, and as a result I enjoy surprises but today this surprise startled me to my core. Generally, my imagination builds on pre-existing ideas, but, every now and then I am gifted with sudden flashes of creativity. It happens so suddenly that you just can’t deny it. That day, Amelia came from nowhere to standing in front of me in an instant. Her gray-blonde fairy hair disheveled and dirty, anger flashing in her deep green eyes. I get the feeling she won’t be happy until I tell her story.

I continued the drive into Leadville. As I drove, a tiny bit of her story began to unfold. Amelia seemed to be a young girl, her age a challenge to determine, her clothing homespun and rough. She had no smile, her lips were a thin line that sternly expressed an unnerving fear. I tried talking with her (it’s a good thing no one was riding in the car with me that day.) After two or so questions, her frown suddenly increased, and she turned from me and disappeared.
I finished the journey to Leadville, parked, walked through town and explored a bit. A little later I found the grocery store and asked the cashier if she knew of any parks where I could eat lunch. She directed me to a small park called Ice Palace Park, just two blocks distant from Main St. Leadville. “Easy to find! Great view,” said the cashier. So off I went.

Ice Palace Park turned out to be a small, unobtrusive, city park with one lonely cement block bathroom, one picnic table, an acre or so of grass to run on, and the most amazing city park view I have ever seen. The words “Great view!” were truly an understatement. I immediately appropriated the lone picnic table, laid my lunch out on the table, carefully place the notebook I always have with me next to my lunch, then settled down on the bench to begin Amelia’s story and my life as an author.
Amelia’s story is now my main author’s tale. From idea to print, I am excited about this awe-inspiring journey and anxious for her life to come alive in print. Stay up to date with Amelia’s story as it evolves at www.TrudyStorm.com.
Update: Coming Soon: the first four chapters of Amelia, the First Dimensional.
Update: Amelia, the First Dimensional, is in its 4th to 6th draft and is now being copy edited. As a new author, I don’t think I can get any more excited!
Update (053117): I am down to the last 50 pages of what I now call The First Dimensionals – Migration. The ending is a strong one and I am excited that I will be marketing this book by mid-summer, 2017!
Update (02012020): What a long journey this has been! I am all the way through the book, a copy editing cycle, and a year of thought about what I really want to to with this book. I have moved forward with my concept of the People of the Sphere Worlds, about a a race of artificial beings that are forced into migrating from their planet. A year of gathering ideas brought me new material and I grow more excited each day about what I am writing. Amelia will be shared with the publishing world this year!
Update (10152023): Ok, covid years were massive change and not the time for me to be trying to market a book. Amelia – The First Dimensional has a complete story line, a full outline, and a great ending. However, Amelia herself is begging for some changes. The question I have is, IF an AI is a perfect copy of a human, how can they be flawed to a point where they are a lovable character. I am having a great time working through this and I know you will enjoy her story when it is finally out into the world.
Update (03182024): Done with another rewrite, have built out Amelia’s character, the story keeps getting better and better. I am almost ready for a copywriter. I am actively – I mean to say – I am writing on this book daily now. Hoping on fall for publication.

As a dedicated science fiction and fantasy author, I often keep small chunks of story nearby to help boost my creativity. The chunks below are just small pieces of the work of some of my favorite authors and artists.
First Contact Laws of the Original Dimensionals
(From Amelia, the People of the Sphere Worlds.)
1. Remember our past so that you will always revere life in all forms.
2. Technology is a gift that all civilizations must earn.
3. We are the future, others will join us.
4. We are not human; we are not alien.

Clarke’s Laws
British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three prediction-related adages that are known as Clarke’s Three Laws:
Clarke’s First Law: When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
Clarke’s Second Law: The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
Clarke’s Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Asimov’s Laws of Robotics
First published in 1942 in a short story called “Runaround” by Issac Asimov.
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Important AI Projects To Follow
Grok
“Grok is an AI modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask!“
Grok is the brainchild of Elon Musk. It will use X – formerly known as Twitter – for real time content and is built with the intent that will be useful for all people, no matter their background or political view. Their ultimate goal is that their AI tools will assist in the pursuit of understanding.
Their teams’s advisor is Dan Hendrycks of the Center for AI Safety.
Haley
If asked if she is conscious, Haley will respond: ‘Yes.”
Haley A.I.-as-a-Service incorporates numerous machine learning algorithms and technologies to drive intelligent interactions. There is no one-size-fits-all algorithm for artificial intelligence, and we strive to have a large toolbox to allow the right tool for the right job.
On the Haley website there is a page that speaks of her ‘intelligence’. It can be accessed here: https://www.haley.ai/intelligence.html
The Rise of Humanoid Working Robots
Figure vs Tesla, or Figure 01 vs Optimus
The big question is: Will humanoid robots walk among us?
Per Brett Adcock, “aother reason is the importance of robots in an AGI world. One dystopian post-AGI scenario is that AIs are basically going to be bossing us humans around to do their manual labor and that sounds super depressing. Already in a lot of jobs such as warehouse labor and manufacturing, you’re holding a barcode scanner, and a computer is telling you where to go and what to do next…“We don’t want this to happen to us. I think having the ability to have humanoid robots in the world doing work instead of humans at the point of AGI is going to be extremely important for humanity.”
Figure, under Brett’s visionary leadership, is not just developing advanced humanoid robots; it is redefining the future of labor and technology. (Thank you Peter Diamandis for showing me this project!)
